voice lessons and coaching
Thoughtful vocal teaching for singers seeking clarity, flexibility, and depth.
I work with singers who want thoughtful, flexible, and deeply informed vocal guidance.
My teaching is grounded in over two decades of professional experience and a belief that strong technique should support musical expression, adaptability, and long‑term vocal health.
In my studio, you’ll find a collaborative, attentive space where your voice, your curiosity, and your musical goals are taken seriously.
I have been active as both a performer and voice teacher for over two decades, with firsthand experience across an exceptionally diverse range of vocal demands. Working at a high professional level has required me to develop a vocal technique that is both deeply grounded and highly adaptable, shaped through sustained engagement with contrasting musical styles, ensemble contexts, and performance traditions.
In my teaching, I bring together strong musicianship, finely developed aural skills, and a deep technical understanding, alongside a warm and imaginative presence in the studio. I am genuinely committed to supporting singers as they discover and explore their individual vocal abilities, fostering confidence, curiosity, and trust in their own intuition as musicians.
Variety is the spice of life, as the above small selection of photos shows…
At the core of my work is a belief in the voice as a flexible and responsive instrument. When supported by a clear and reliable technical foundation, singers are capable of significant stylistic range, expressive freedom, and long‑term vocal health. This understanding informs both my performing and teaching practice, and underpins an approach that values sustainability alongside musical clarity and depth.
Many singers I work with are seeking an approach beyond strictly opera‑centred training. My teaching is shaped by the conviction that singers are intelligent, adaptable musicians, and reflects a broad classical practice. I support voices working across ensemble singing, Early Music, Contemporary / Avant-Garde, chamber, oratorio, recital, and operatic contexts, with technique developed to serve adaptability and long‑term sustainability. This perspective is quietly informed by my own experience across these fields, and in my work as a conductor and Artistic Director, but in the studio, the focus remains firmly on the individual singer, and the work unfolding between us.
